11:00am // It’s all happening! CAKE [Chicago Alternative Comics Expo] is setting up camp at The Center on Halsted (3656 N Halsted St, Chicago, IL 60613). There will be myriad events such as workshops, exhibitions, exclusive panels and comics for sale! With so many local artists in one place, it’d be a mistake to miss this awesome event. Free event. 

12:00pm // CAKE [Chicago Alternative Comics Expo] Presents Tony Millionaire and Caitlin McGurk at The Center on Halsted (3656 N Halsted St, Chicago, IL 60613) in a special panel hosted by Comix RevolutionTony Millionaire’s appearance is hosted by the awesome folks over at Graham Cracker Comics. This panel is bound to be awesome! Free event. 

1:30pm // CAKE [Chicago Alternative Comics Expo] Presents Evolution of The Artist with Anya Davidson, Lizz Hickey, and Inés Estrada, Moderated by Max Morris at The Center on Halsted (3656 N Halsted St, Chicago, IL 60613). This panel traces the history of the cartoonist and how the artist has adapted to new forms of technology. Free event. 

3:00pm // In what can only be described as a “dream team”, don’t miss an exclusive CAKE panel featuring Edie FakeEric Kostiuk Williams and Elisha Lim moderated by Brian Cremins at The Center on Halsted (3656 N Halsted St, Chicago, IL 60613)  Free event.

Had a little too much CAKE? Head on over to The Green Mill (4802 N Broadway St, Chicago, IL 60640) for another installment of The Paper Machete at 3:00pm hosted by Christopher PiattFree event. 

4:00pm // The Pure Joy Bake Sale with Mystery Actions, Bihari Beach, The Magnifiers & Brian Costello is taking place at Bric a Brac Records & Collectibles (3156 W Diversey Ave, Chicago, IL 60647) in Logan Square. Enjoy homemade red velvet cupcakes while hearing the one and only Brian Costello reading, and punk rock babies the Mystery Actions wailing. Don’t miss it! Free event. 

9:00pm // Swing by The Observatory (3036 N Lincoln Ave, 4th floor, Chicago, IL 60657) for the CAKE Afterparty featuring Creepy Highway, Gun Tit, Narwhalz of Sound and Violet MiceFree event. 

Sunday June 1st, 2014 

12:00pm // Skip brunch and come out to The Center on Halsted (3656 N Halsted St, Chicago, IL 60613) for CAKE [Chicago Alternative Comics Expo] Presents Seduction of the Innocent, an exclusive panel featuring Tony MillionaireLiz Prince and Tucker Stone moderated by Marnie GallowayFree event.

1:30pm // How similar are cartoonists and animators? A special CAKE panel will examine this. CAKE [Chicago Alternative Comics Expo] Presents Jo Dery, Hellen Jo and Jesse Moynihan moderated by Jeremy Tinder discussing the parallels of cartoonists and animators at The Center on Halsted (3656 N Halsted St, Chicago, IL 60613). Free event. 

3:00pm // Bid adieu to CAKE [Chicago Alternative Comics Expo] for another year with a special panel on Sequential Story Yelling featuring Sean ChristensenOtto Splotch and Sara Drake moderated by Lyra Hill. This panel examines and draws similarities between comic strips and performance and should be highly educational. Free event.
