PleasureTown, the critically acclaimed WBEZ radio drama produced by Erin Kahoa and Keith Ecker, is holding a special episode writing contest. Will you write the next great episode of PleasureTown?
For those unfamiliar with this incredible series, PleasureTown focuses on a fictional hedonistic Oklahoma town at the turn-of-the-century. Rife with compelling characters and rich storylines, PleasureTown is a fan favorite on iTunes.
The series has played host to a number of local literary luminaries including Ian Belknap, Dana Norris, Deanna Moffitt, Shannon Cason and more. Read the mandated requirements below to get a good idea of what the producers want:
Stories should be submitted either by email to pleasuretownshow (at) gmail (dot) com or via PleasureTown’s online portal located here. All stories must be submitted in a .doc or .docx format. While there are no formal length requirements, stories should range between 500 and 4,000 words. Writers may introduce new characters or incorporate pre-existing characters, but stories must not conflict or dramatically alter the show’s current cannon. We encourage all entrants to listen to Season 1 prior to submitting.
Winners will be notified, and all winning stories will air on the podcast in early 2015 in a build-up to the premier of Season 2 in mid-2015. By submitting, entrants affirm the work is theirs to share and agree to be bound as a Licensor by the terms and conditions of a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License.
