Chicago Literati was founded in November 2012 by Abigail Sheaffer. Abigail founded Chicago Literati because she saw that live-lit coverage was sporadic, and that unique reading series were not getting the attention they deserved.
Pioneering the Live-Lit Roundup and subsequently, the Reading Series Review, Chicago Literati quickly became a welcome addition to the media industry in Chicago.
In 2013, Chicago Literati branched out and began publishing essays and fiction by both novice and renowned authors throughout the country and around the world.
In 2014, WordPress took on Chicago Literati as a Recommended Blog next to such famous entities as CNN.com and TIME Magazine. In 2015, Chicago Literati cemented its future as a media company by becoming incorporated and receiving 501c3 nonprofit status by the IRS.
Abigail runs Chicago Literati out of her own pockets. It is her passion. Unfortunately, Chicago Literati is not financially successful like other media corporations. In a world of major corporate media, Chicago Literati is a Ma-and-Pop Store.
But with your help, Chicago Literati can become economically successful. Any donation you can make, be it $3 or $20 or more, can help lead us into a better and brighter future.
Your donation will not only help us pay our volunteer staff, but will also help us pave the way for fun creative writing courses for at-risk youth in Chicago.
